The Argentine team flies over Buenos Aires in a helicopter to celebrate its title

The procession with the coach of the world champions in the streets of Buenos Aires has become impossible this Tuesday. Welcomed as heroes by a delirious crowd, Lionel Messi and his teammates left the federation’s headquarters shortly before noon (4pm local time in Paris) to reach the Obelisk, the nerve center of the capital.

Blocked after three hours and about ten kilometers, they ended up getting into a helicopter to greet their supporters. “The world champions are flying over the entire planned route in a helicopter because it has become impossible to continue by road”explained in a tweet the spokesman for the presidency Gabriela Cerruti.

Direction Rosario for Messi and Di Maria

Argentinians came from everywhere, from the suburbs of the capital, from the provinces, from Rosario 300 km away, and took advantage of a day declared a public holiday to come and celebrate the third star of the Albiceleste. They invaded the capital in the early hours of the morning. A source from the municipality estimated the crowd for AFP at more than 4 million people along the entire length of the route.

The Argentine selection then returned to the federation’s headquarters. Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria made their way to Rosario, arriving at around 6.30pm local time (10.30pm in France) according to information from Clarin.
