Guest on the set of CBS Morning, this June 2, Amber Heard’s lawyer returned to the long trial that pitted the client against Johnny Depp. Maître Elaine Bredehoft then responded to the many criticisms that were made to her.
The trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp in the court of Fairfax (Virginia) is over, but the one that was played on social networks continues. Almost two weeks after the two actors were found guilty of defaming each other, the case continues to make talk. If the interpreter of Jack Sparrow offered funny sequences which amused Internet users during his passages at the bar, those of his ex-wife were strongly criticized. And his team was not spared. Guest on the show CBS Morning this June 2, master Elaine Bredehoft faced host Nate Burleson who invited her to “to look at oneself in the mirror” after she assured Johnny Depp’s popularity influenced the final verdict.
To which Elaine Bredehoft replied: “We had cameras in the courtroom. We had, not only a group of Johnny Depp fans who were there every day, 100 were allowed in, they lined up at one o’clock in the morning to get bracelets to be in that courtroom, but we had filmed everything, and we had a huge social network that was very, very, very against Amber“. “I’m a former NFL player, and after a tough loss, it’s easy to wake up and point fingers to the other side. Often I realized that the best thing to do was to look in the mirror”then launched Nate Burleson.

Amber Heard’s conviction is a “major setback for women”
Amber Heard’s lawyer regretted the verdict condemning her client to pay over $8 million to her ex-husband after weeks of scabrous unpacking on their intimate life. For Elaine Bredehoft, the outcome of the trial is a “major setback for women” “One of the first things she (Amber Heard, editor’s note) said coming back from the verdict, when we went to the conference room, was: ‘I’m so sorry for all these women’. She felt like she had let all these women down because she had more evidence than most people. And yet, they still didn’t believe her.”.
Before adding: “Amber Heard had a huge amount of evidence, although a lot of them were removed in this case unlike the UK… But look at all the women who have no evidence. All these women who are suffering from domestic violence, domestic abuse, and they have no evidence.” According to her, the jury sent back the message that “unless you pull out your cell phone and record your spouse beating you, You are unlucky“.

Amber Heard’s Lawyers “have fucked up” while they were “very, very confident”
If the lawyer appeared “very, very confident” from the start of the trial, a close source told the New York Post that Amber Heard’s lawyers “have screwed up”. “They thought that the text message in which Johnny says he wants to burn her was enough to win the case… Their team was dumped”. But we have to believe that the testimonies proving that Johnny Depp made violent remarks towards the 36-year-old actress were not enough in the face of the many inconsistencies of the mother Oonagh Paige who was caught in the act of lying at the bar.
Coming out of Fairfax court, the star ofAquaman reacted : “I’m devastated by the fact that the mountain of evidence was not enough to deal with the far greater power, influence and ascendancy of my ex-husband. I am even more disappointed by what this verdict means for other women. It’s a setback. It challenges the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously.” Despite her conviction, Amber Heard may well not stop there and appeal.
