Justice canceled the sequestration of nine Amstaffs, banned in Geneva, but ordered their refoulement to France.
The Geneva courts have canceled the final sequestration of an Amstaff female dog and her eight puppies pronounced in December 2021 by the Consumer and Veterinary Affairs Department (SCAV). This decision had been taken against a couple domiciled in Acacias who owned these dogs which are prohibited in Geneva. At the end of April, reports “Le Temps”, the Administrative Chamber noted that the appellant was not authorized to keep these animals on cantonal territory. On the other hand, it judged the sequestration disproportionate, since the owners, very attached to their animals, offered to place them with a relative, in Collonges-sous-Salève, in neighboring France. In other words, the solution of forced exile prevails.
