A picnic on the beach? An aperitif with friends? Pizza is often associated with a good time. Whether portioned, extra-large, cheese or meat, the perfect pizza exists for everyone. In order to make a choice among the large number of pizzerias in Montpellier, Midi Libre has selected five.
1 – Fred and Emmanuelle, creators of original Sicilian pizzas
Sicily Beach. Since 2005, Fred and Emmanuelle have been at the head of Sicilia Beach. He is Spanish, she is Sicilian. After training in his in-laws, within the Sicilian clan, Fred became a professional, especially in pizza. But for the cook, it is out of the question to do only in the traditional way.
“Our specialty is to divert all our pizzas into double fondant, with cheese in the crust, explains Fred. We also make Keto pizzas with a mozzarella-based dough, and a lot of creations, especially on weekends , with fresh seafood, such as octopus or cuttlefish.”
The couple, who have made originality the hallmark of Sicilia Beach, are in the kitchen every lunchtime from Monday to Friday, and on Friday and Saturday evenings.

2 – In portions or extra-large, fresh pizzas at an affordable price
PizzaRoss. Established for three years on the Place de la Comédie, the Pizza Ross pizzeria has quickly become an essential place for all those who wish to eat on the go. Whether large portions or forty centimeter pizzas, the customer gets his money’s worth. And what a price! Around €3 for a portion and between €11 and €15 for a whole pizza.
“We have a laboratory in Mauguio which makes the pasta so that it arrives fresh in the morning. We pre-cut the vegetables that we buy in a short circuit”, explains Olivier Rossi, the manager. Thanks to Greg (in the laboratory), Marco, Louka (the two pizza makers) and Nina on sale, the pizzeria concentrates speed, quality and quantity.

3 – Since 1971, Chez Vincent has honored the Sicilian clan
At Vincent’s. In 2000, Giuseppe Palumbo took over the family pizzeria, one of the oldest in the city. At the time, in the heart of the Sicilian clan, everyone cooked.
“We offer more than 25 wood-fired pizzas. From traditional to the special Burrata, via the Deliciosa”, says the restaurateur, passionate about his job.
“I love seeing students from the 70s come here with their grandchildren. It’s family at home and it’s homemade!”

4 – Massimiliano, the master pizza maker and his Neapolitan expertise
Caffe Panis. On June 21, Caffè Panis will celebrate its one year anniversary. Ideally located on Place du Marché-aux-Fleurs, the Italian restaurant has a pizza star chef: Massimiliano Braccio. A Neapolitan who arrived in Montpellier in 1994, the master pizza maker has been cooking pizzas since he was 11 years old.
With his experience, Massimiliano produces high quality pizzas. With Italian products, vegetables from Mauguio, a tri-flour dough and a drizzle of olive oil to create an inimitable crunch, the pizzas at Caffè Panis are among the best in town. On our side, we recommend the Buffala Kill: mozzarella, fior di Latte, Parma ham, tomato. A delight.

5 – With Samir and Nahem, pizza represents family history
Marsala pizza. Established since 2014, Pizza Marsala has become an institution. Samir and Nahem, twin brothers at the origin of the pizzeria, drew on family history. With a Neapolitan and Sicilian grandmother, the two brothers have created generous pizzas, respectful of Neapolitan traditions while adding modernity to bring, in particular, crunch to the dough.
With cheese and charcuterie coming directly from Italy and vegetables and meat from a short circuit, Pizza Marsala combines quality, freshness, seasonality and originality. Special mention for the Truffo Lover, the San Daniel (aubergines, cured ham, San Daniel…) and the one of the moment: Rivage au soleil. A mixture of pesto, salmon, lemon and mozzarella. In a few months, a new restaurant will open downtown.
