Elon Musk ready to donate $6 billion to fight world hunger… on one condition

Could a verbal contest on Twitter, involving the director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) and Elon Musk, lead to a major breakthrough for humanity?

In an interview with CNN, the director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), David Beasley, had challenged the ultra-rich “to intervene now, in a timely manner”, to help solve the problem of World hunger. Particularly targeted by David Beasley, the two richest men on the planet: Jeff Bezos, boss of Amazon and Elon Musk, boss of Tesla.

“Six billion dollars to help 42 million people who will literally die if we don’t help them. It’s not complicated,” said David Beasley. Speaking directly to the billionaires, he also launched: “What if it was your daughter who was starving? What if it was your family who was starving? Wake up (…) and help.”

Six billion dollars would equal about 2% of Elon Musk’s net worth. The latter reacted this Sunday on Twitter.

If WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6B will solve world hunger, I will sell Tesla stock right now and do it.

“If the WFP can describe on this Twitter thread exactly how $6 billion will solve world hunger, I’ll sell Tesla stock right now and I’ll do it,” the billionaire had said before specifying that it had to be an explanation. for everyone to see where the money is going.

But it must be open source accounting, so the public sees precisely how the money is spent.

“I suggest dry land”

After clarifying that “$6 billion will not solve world hunger, but it will prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people from the brink of starvation. An unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm due to the Covid/conflict/climate crises.”, David Beasley proposed a meeting with Elon Musk.

.@elonmusk! Headline not accurate. $6B will not solve world hunger, but it WILL prevent geopolitical instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the brink of starvation. An unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm due to Covid/conflict/climate crises.

In the form of a poke at space racer Tesla boss David Beasley announced: “We can meet anywhere – on Earth or in space – but I suggest on earth farm where you can see the WFP people, the process and yes, the technology, at work. I’ll bring the plan and open the books.”

.@elonmusk Instead of tweets, allow me to show you. We can meet anywhere—Earth or space—but I suggest in the field where you can see @WFP‘s people, processes and yes, technology, at work. I will bring the plan, and open books.

The billionaire, stuck to his guns saying, “Please post your current and proposed expenses in detail so people can see exactly where the money is going. Sunlight is a wonderful thing.”
